GAME
Learn with exploration and narration (storytelling)
The game is a voluntary activity, limited in time and space, with structured rules, conventions or agreements between players, without external coercion, which uses elements of fantasy and creative imagination.

BUILD
Build knowledge while building things
According to Seymour Papert, disciple of Jean Piaget, building things and building knowledge go together and reinforce each other. When things are built about the world, theories and knowledge are built simultaneously in the mind.

HAND – MIND CONNECTION
The essence of the Lego® Serious Play® is based upon the interaction between hands and mind.
The idea behind the Lego® Serious Play® lies in the fact that the use of hands to build 3D models to create ideas, feelings or knowledge opens up new paths for free, creative and expressive thinking.

IMAGINATION
Awakening creativity
The word “imagination” has three basic meanings: the description of things (descriptive imagination), the creation of things (creative imagination), the challenge (challenging imagination). The interaction among these three types of imagination forms the so-called strategic imagination, a source of responses to a wide variety of issues.

METAPHORE
A form of language and thought
The creation of metaphors is an innate resource for people to give a deeper meaning to the superficial understanding of reality. Metaphors allow us to understand this reality in a totally different way.

FLUX (FLOW)
Balance between challenges and skills
The Lego® Serious Play® workshops seek out the “flow” of the participants in order to achieve their highest level of participation according to the theories of Csikszentmihalyi. Effective learning is achieved when people really engage in an activity.
